These were the last days of our trip, although I only took pictures on day 13 because day 14 we were traveling for 24 hours straight!
I was obnoxiously insistent that my family get to see Borough Market (Brig and I went the week before everyone else arrived) and so on our last full day in London, we tubed in and got to witness the magic all over again. I made sure that everyone had a Bread Ahead donut in hand as we walked around the stalls of chocolates and fruit and seafood and cheese. Brig and I got the most dreamy passionfruit truffle and a “Louisiana-style” pulled pork sandwich, which was seriously yummy. Then, we did a second round at Westminster Abbey, just as beautiful and incredible as the first time Brig and I went (although it was a bit more crowded, especially since day 13 was New Year’s Eve).
Then, we took a trip to the Churchill War Rooms which was SUPER cool!! The museum is really modern and techy and it was fun to walk around there and learn more about Winston Churchill. They had the Enigma machine there, which I was geeking out about.
After that, we had our final dinner in London – Chipotle, haha! How American. Then we made our way to the Buckingham Palace to see it at sunset and although it was super crazy and there were a lot of people, it was fun to see it for at least a few minutes in daylight. And then we headed back to the Tube station to go home 😭 We packed up our things and the next morning we took off for Heathrow and said our goodbyes and it was kind of the worst because none of us wanted to leave.
I’ll never truly be able to put into words what this London trip meant for my family, but at the end of the day what I can say is that I know for a fact that God wanted us to be there, all together, at that time, for very specific reasons. It was magical and spiritual and so so needed. It brought us closer together and I will cherish those memories for the rest of my life. I love my family more than anything in this world and that time together was absolutely priceless.
So long, London. Hopefully we’ll see ya soon 👋🇬🇧
