Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends!! How was your Thanksgiving? We had a pretty low-key dinner spent with some friends of ours that live in Northern Massachusetts. Our contributions to the dinner were Davida’s Roasted Brussels Sprout & Farro Salad + Liz’s Roasted Butternut Squash Hummus. Both are SO delicious. I also tried pecan pie for the first (!!!) time and fell madly in love. My life is changed.

We tried a couple new eateries this week – Dig Inn and Three Little Figs. My friend, Rosie, recommended Dig Inn and HOLY COW, guys!!! So freaking delicious. It’s a healthy, seasonal, fast-casual spot and they serve bowl food. Like Chipotle-style? Except American food. You pick a base – like for autumn, they have brown rice, farro with butternut squash, or greens, and then add two sides, then a main, and then an extra like avocado (duh!! always add the avocado.) I got a bowl of farro with butternut squash, charred brussels sprouts, maple roasted cauliflower with chickpeas, charred chicken thighs, & half an avocado. I kinda wish/really don’t wish I lived right next to it because I would LITERALLY eat there every single day.

Three Little Figs is a cute little coffee shop/cafe in Somerville. I took myself on a date there to get out of the house alone (I try to do this at least once a week for sanity/happiness purposes) and ordered the harvest bowl and a little slice of their squash-maple-yogurt cake. YUM. I left that meal thinking that it was just SO satisfying – I wasn’t still hungry, I wasn’t overly full, I had my sweet, my savory….all bases were covered. It was great!

Okay – let’s talk skincare for a minute. I’ve been in the process of switching over to natural skincare for awhile now. A couple years, at least. It takes a lot of time and money, and lots of trial and error to find what works best for your skin type. And I think I’ll do a big post on it soon, once I feel like I’ve found all my favorite products, but in the meantime!! Here are two that I’ve been obsessed with lately: this face cream by Nourish Organics and this brightening facial scrub by ACURE. The face cream is so great if you have dry skin like me (perfect for winter!!) and the facial scrub is my FAVORITE facial scrub ever. It does a good job of exfoliating without feeling like you’re ripping your skin off – you know?? Some scrubs are way too rough. This one is just right.

Sophie and I have been dancing to What Lovers Do by Maroon 5 on REPEAT. So catchy. I’m the type of person that will play a song over and over again until I hate it (obsessive personality, what?) so….in a week we’ll probably be over it 😂 Buuuuut now we get to start listening to Christmas music (even though there’s still no snow outside 😭) and today we are DEFINITELY watching Elf.

Hope you guys have a great rest of your weekend! Happy Black Friday! 😉
